Flat Lapping, Precision Lapping (Free Abrasive Machining)

Precision lapping processes can be used to achieve flatness, parallelism, and desired surface finish in a stress free state. Precision lapping can also be applied to most non-metallic and metal-alloy materials.

Flat Lapping (Free Abresive Machining)

Dimentions: From .250 to 24 inch diameter by 3.750 inches thick, depending on application.

This process produces accurate flatness to one light band 11 millilionth (.000011), and controlled finishes on various materials. Other materials include plastic, ceramic, carbide, stainless steel, inconel, brass, bronze, alumninum and heat treated steels.

Stock removal from 0.002" up to 0.015" on hard materials and up to 0.030" on soft materials. There is little or no heat destortion during lapping reducing the possibility of decarburization of heat treated material.
